What We Can Learn From The Healthiest Countries On The Globe

The healthiest countries in the world have one thing in common: their citizens have healthy diets and live long lives. In this blog post, we will explore the diets & lifestyle habits of some of the healthiest countries in the world. What do they eat that makes them so healthy? We will also look at some of the benefits of living a healthier & happier lifestyle. So, if you're interested in learning more about how to live a long and joyfully healthy life, read on!

The four healthiest countries in the world are :

  • Japan

  • Switzerland

  • Spain

  • Italy

So what do these countries have in common?'

The healthiest countries in the world have some of their own unique diets, but the most beneficial all have things in common. These include prioritising nutrient-dense diets, drinking plenty of water (approximately eight glasses per day), not smoking or consuming alcohol regularly, getting enough sleep each night, and engaging in regular exercises like walking, hiking, or swimming.

Another similarity they share is their culture. All countries hold spending time with family and partaking in social gatherings as highly on the list as eating good food & living well. One of the key similarities of these countries is that they have some of the longest living populations on the planet. They also have lower rates of obesity, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses. This is hugely due to their diets, which while they do range in different foods groups, they prioritise eating nutrient-dense foods like the following:

-Fruits & Vegetables

-Nuts

-Whole grains

-Lentils & beans

-Dairy products

-Meats & poultry

-Oils & seafood

Another comparison these countries share is sleeping 7-8 hours a night. Sleep deprivation can play havoc with your body. Countries that prioritise sleep suffer less with sluggishness & weight gain. If you are struggling to get your total 8 hours in, try to limit screen time before bed not to disrupt melatonin production, which aids with sleep regulation.

So, what can we learn from these healthy countries? For starters, try to avoid processed foods and eat more whole foods. Also, make sure you're drinking enough water and getting a good amount of sleep each night. Finally, try to get in some physical activity every day and participate in activities that bring you joy! We hope these tips help you live a healthier life!
